I haven't really slept in a few days. I can't wait until I get to a hotel room.
So I spent the day in Hong Kong. I was impressed and disappointed at the same time. In my mind, Hong Kong was supposed to be some sort of giant China Town. I figured it would have a lot of shady stores and skeezy massage parlours. I figured that I'd be able to eat some cheap dim sum and buy a fake rolex. Hong Kong, at least what I saw was incredibly clean. It was essentially the worlds biggest designer brand name mall. All the various high end malls are connected through their respect anchor hotels forming a giant arcology. Imagine the biggest, fanciest mall you can, make it five stories, now imagine that it never ends. I didn't take many pictures. I think that I'll be more inclined to take pictures when I'm not alone.
Here are a few observations:
Asian people love Converse Chuck Taylors. They are the official shoe of Asian people under the age of 30.
Asian people are not short. I'm average height, if that. I was looking forward to towering over Hong Kong like Godzilla. I need to go to a country like North Korea where poor nutrition begets lilliputians.
Hong Kong was not as expensive as I thought it would be. I went to a giant supermarket that had its own pan asian food court. I ended up at Curry in a Hurry. I thought that I ordered some kind of lamb stuffed naan with curried lentils and some sort of cucumber cabbage salad. I got some sort of chicken and egg omlette naan sandwich. I also got my choice I drink. I tried to order a tea, but the woman insisted that American's drink coke. The portions were huge, but the soda was tiny. I think that's a good thing.
